10:19 am - Why does pizza always give me heartburn?
It never fails...

Anyway, besides the stomach issues, life is good.
Where else but in San diego can you be standing outside at 11pm in a t-shirt and shorts no less chatting with friends and not be reduced to a chattering icicle?

Got a new roommate, she's got a 9 month old vcat that's insane, I swear. 1 minute you're petting it, and the next he's attacking you for no reason whatsoever.

5:21 am - merry christmas!
Man it's been a while...
In SF for the holidays, then it's off to Vegas for the New Year!
The holidays are upon us, and it's time to do the obligatory family get togethers and gift exchanges. For us single folk, it's also a constant reminder of how single we are. Man, doing my last minute shopping, there were couples left and right doing their little PDAs. Apparently the holidays are also good for our libidos.
Cold weather + bored couples = lot's of september babies!
Depressing, I swear... Not that I can complain... Newport Beach Jenni, the last girl I was dating, stopped seeing me because... she wanted to get serious and knew that I didn't, so we should just be friends. All this in an email to boot. She read me correctly though,. I don't know what I want right now. Maybe it's just gonna take the right girl...

That email thing, I swear it's karma coming back to me, I remember the one time in college that I sent a dear Jane email...
So that's a lesson learned from me to you.

Been a great year though, looking back... It didn't seem that way as it was happening, but I guess I just need to recognize and appreciate things more as they happen to me. I guess we're all a bit guilty of that sometimes. But hey! that's what the end of the year is for right? Reflection !

Business picked up quite a bit, although it never feels that way while it's happening.

Met some great people, both personally and through work.

I can only hope 2006 will top 2005.

11:47 pm - sigh- roommate searching blows
Here's an example of a roommate email. and I quote here"

My name is *****, I'm currently overseas and will be back in the US on March 1, first in Miami for a day or two then to move on to San Diego.

Your place sounds just like what I'm looking for but please allow a few days for me to look, I just joined roomates.com.

One thing that would help me figure out how well you and I would get along is if you'd give me your birthday so that I can take a look at your natal chart. Astrology is a hobby of mine. If you are concerned about giving information like that to strangers I understand, but please note that if we were to live in the same house I'd most likely know what day, year, and month you were born in :)

You won't have much trouble with me, I'll either be working, sleeping, or smiling most of the time :D

I graduated master of science in organizational psychology, though am currently working privately with a partner."

It was nice to be home, see some old faces, and eat some home cooking!
I'm slowly but surely getting over whatever I have, I think it was the flu... not sure though.
Kinda glad the holidays are over, it was kinda hectic trying to get from one place to the next if ya ask me.

2:31 am - Angie's trip to SD
Angie visited a little over a week ago! Here are some pics...

sunset on the Windansea beach in La Jolla.

Jp & Mel, Sun and Rana, Geo & barbs. Me in the middle and Jose on the far right.

Vegas last month with Mel/Shan. Myron and Willie were at some other casino... don't ask me why...

So it's only been a week since I've seen her, but it feels like forever. Even though we talk on a daily basis on the phone, it doesn't make up for the fact that we're 1527.51 miles apart. (Mapquest is cool isn't it?)

Showed her around town, tried to get her to fall in love with the place, not sure if I succeeded/. Give me time and I'm sure I can do it.

The only thing keeping me sane is the fact that she's done with school in 12/05 and is planning on moving out of Kansas. California and Florida (her home) are at the top of her list. So for now, we're going to have to make do with monthly visits.

8:03 am - Jail...

guess who this is?

That's Angie in a Prada ad from her modeling days. It was shot at a parking lot in the Four Seasons Miami.

So this was a crazy weekend to say the least... It all started innocently enough on Friday. I went bar hopping with Connie in the Gaslamp, so we were a little toasty by the end of the night. So when I got home, I had some issues with getting past the front door. I literally spent 10 minutes trying to jam my dang car key into the key hole... Poor Sunshine, I think I woke her up with all the jingling at this point, and she woke up in time to see me head down to my car to find my house keys. So i finally got the right keys and made it into bed...

So saturday night, we all head to Pacific Beach to hit up some bars. Sunshine and her boyfriend Rana came out too. So the first bar, Guava Beach was pretty chill, so we had a few there, and headed to Typhoon Saloon. That's where we got in line, and... this is key... Angie called me around 1Am, 3AM her time. So we talked about her night, and how there was some fool with a firearm at the club, so her night was full of fun and excitement. So maybe I felt a subconscious desire to outdo her night? ;)

So the call was key because we talked long enough for everyone to get into the bar, but when I was done with the phone, turns out they weren't letting any more people in. So I had to leave and come back with a plan to get in. So I managed to sneak in and found everyone. In effect that limited my beer intake for the night... a good thing. After Typhoon, we head to Ramiro's for a breakfast burrito. That's where Aerin decides that we should go to Mexico. Keep in mind it's 2:30 AM... So I agree, and we head south. But 10 miles from the border, I get lit up by the cops and I think, "S*** I'm screwed"

The cop pulls up and tells me to get out. He ran a few sobriety tests on me and I think I did well on most of them, but when he pulled out the breathalyzer, I refused to take it and he said it was OK, but he has to take me downtown. So I get cuffed and stuck in the back of the cop car. Aerin was too drunk to drive, so they drop his ass off at Denny's to catch a cab. Anyway, the point of me refusing the breathalyzer was that although I only had a few drinks, I may not have been under .08, so I figured the more time I ive my body to process the alcohol, the better. to be continued...

current mood: relieved

4:31 am - A violent side?
Hmm so it seems that Angie has had her fair share of fights in her lifetime... she's taken on more than one boy in her teens and from what she tells me, the boys got pretty messed up... Once was in co-ed hockey, where she threw down and broke some guy's nose, and another time was sticking up for her little sis, where she knocked a 16 year old guy to the ground! Yes she was older by a year, but keep in mind she's really not that big.

I am going to make sure I never piss her off...

So I email her a top 10 list of why she should move to SD, and she emails me back with a list of why I need to move to Wichita... Here are some highlights:

10. We are directly in the middle of the country. Easy flights to either coast, Canada and Mexico. We are the Air Capital and every major airline is based here. Even McConnell Air Force Base is the largest air base in the U.S.

9. Ling Ling does not live here. Imagine if that panda ever got loose. She is probably so pissed at being cooped up, forced to mate and gawked at by thousands of people that she will go on a killing spree. And we are trying to PROLONG your life, remember? Not end it so abruptly by an angry panda.

8. We have snow. Which is the coolest thing since sliced white bread. We also have 4 seasons. Which means 4 different wardrobes of ultra cute clothes for me. You will get to experience just how hot I look in a turtle-neck, and come to understand why there are so many babies born in August and September.

7. Wichita has the best food. And that means alot coming from me. Besides the fact that I don't cook, I have lived all over the U.S. and Europe, and have not experienced such great overall quality in food. Plus there are a lot of fat people here, which is a testament unto itself. (and you'll always appreciate my being thin, and I won't have to worry about your wandering eye with all the chubby ones around)

6. There is only one really hip, cool nite club here. And I am already the queen of it. Which means, free drinks, no waiting in line, and no cover charge. Plus everyone will think you must be some awesome up and coming model/rock star since you're with me. (ok, that was a little conceited) Every man will want to be you and every woman will want to have you. You will be a novelty.

hopefully I don't get beat up for posting half of them...

My right eye has been doing an involuntary twitch for the past 3 days, this doesn't seem right.

I need a new cell phone, but still don't know what kind I'm getting. I'd love aVertuphone but don't have the dough... a phone that costs as much as a new car, what a concept. Anyone wanna buy me an early Xmas gift, feel free.

2:12 am - Angie...

had to put this one in, caught her off guard and she was saying - "don't take that picture..."

Dave's been a busy boy, with work and going out and sleep deprivation...
So many things going on, where do I start?
Well, I just met Angie last week, she was in town visiting a friend. So long story short, we ended up hitting it off, and I had the privilege of taking her out every night while she was in SD, (sadly she was here only 3 days) . She seems great... smart, witty, down to earth, open-minded, we seem to have a similar sense of humor, and to top it off, she can drink a beer, drive a stick shift and put together cabinetry. If she liked baseball, she'd be the perfect woman! Fortunately, she's open to learning more about it.
OK, I don't know if you remember that movie A Bronx Tale, but in one scene, Chazz Palminteri teaches the kid about the door test, it goes something like this :

"I've been doing this one since I stole my first car back when I was 14. The "door" test basically boils down to this: When you take a girl out for the first time, lock the door on your side of the car, open her door first, walk around the back, and see if she unlocks the door for you. If she does, she's a keeper. If she doesn't, she's a selfish bitch and you should consider yourself lucky to have recognized that early on. "
Anyway , point is, nowadays with keyless entry, unlocking a door isn't necessary, but she did reach over and open the door each time I let her in my car... Keeper material? definitely!

here's the rub, she's from out of town... A nursing student in Kansas... which means that she has to finish her degree before even considering a move anywhere. Transferring to CA with non resident tuition would be out of the picture :( So it's going to be a little over a year before she moves. We've talked on the phone pretty often since then, so it feels like we've known each other for longer than we actually do. I jokingly told her that technically, we've known each other 3 weeks since we've been on 3 dates and typically dates are about once a week or so. Anyway, long distance things are a bitch and this is going to be a lot of work, but who knows, it could work right?

8:28 am - Life
Next Chapter...
Things are changing, and I'm just trying to keep from falling off.
Jorge is moving away this month, meaning no more roommate. Who the heck will I go to Vegas with now? To cafe Sevilla with?
Man, I'm going through a real life version of the finale of Friends. Melissa's moving back to OC in the summer. Andy and Nic B are moving back to Nor Cal...My circle of friends is getting smaller and smaller, and working in a 2 person office isn't the most ideal setting to meet new friends.
who am I going to drink in PB and Rock Bottom with???

So I'm going to stay in san Diego... dunno what's going to happen, I'm worried, excited, sad, happy, all at once.

So on top of all this, my car got seriously damaged on 5/5.
I was walking to my car after a night in PB, I was parked in front of a friend's house... when I notice a Honda with the bumper lying on the road in front of it, totally detached.
"man that car got messed up" I was thinking... Hope they left a note. And yep, I looked on the windshield and there was a note, thought nothing of it, walked past 2 more cars and reached my car. I unlock the door and pulled on the handle... nothing. door won't budge. I look down and there is a 7 inch deep 10 inch high gouge that travelled from my rear fender, through the door, ending at the front fender.

So I get in through the passenger side and crawl to my seat. Drive home slowly in case the alignment's off.
Turns out the lady that hit me was on meds for her anxiety attacks and apparently dozed off. I would assume alcohol had a part to play, but don't know til the police report is done. Bottom line...
car's jacked up, have to drive a rental for the next couple of weeks... :'(
Towed the Z to the body shop last Fri. will get the estimate today.
wish me luck

1:54 am - Pics from DC

On the Metro in DC

Amel Larrieux- remember her? she was the lead singer of Groove Theory! Man, where were you when that song came out?

club Dream

Part 1 of the trip, Washington DC, did not disappoint. As soon as I arrived in DC, Tammy took me to this great little italian place called Al Tiramisu. Good food, and popular place it seemed. gotta be good when there were all these celeb photo's up on the wall.
Afterwards, we head to a huge club called Dream. The line was too long for the 25 degree weather. I wasn't too sure what too expect judging from the crowd outside, but as soon as we got inside, it was a pretty swanky place. Plasmas everywhere and a huge aquarium in the front.
Tammy had mentioned that there'd be a R&B songstress live that night, so we head up to the middle level of the club to see who was performing, and it turned out to be the lead singer of Groove Theory! Remember that song? Tell me?
Anyway, it was all over KMEL back in my high school days. So that was worth the price of admission alone! What a weird coincidence, to time our visit with one of the few times she ever performs live, and in DC of all places! Anyway, DC was cold, but Day 1 was most definitely fun.
